ENSA Prizes awarded at the ICNS2025

The award ceremonies for the ENSA prizes were held during the ICNS2025 in Copenhagen (Denmark) and Lund (Sweden) on 6-10 July 2025.

ENSA and the European Crystallographic Association jointly awarded the 2025 Erwin Félix Lewy Bertaut Prize sponsored by MIRROTRON to Dalila Bounoua for her outstanding contribution to the field of novel magnetism in high temperature copper oxide superconductor materials, using cutting-edge polarized neutron diffraction combined with advanced photon methods.

The 2025 Neutron Instrumentation and Innovation Award, also sponsored by MIRROTRON, was awarded to Iurii Kibalin for his significant impact on polarized neutron diffraction techniques and the development of the CrysPy software tool, which has transformed polarized neutron powder diffraction on magnetic samples into a routine, accessible method for a broad scientific community.

Finally, the 2025 Walter Hälg Prize, sponsored by SwissNeutronics, was awarded to Juan Rodriguez-Carvajal in recognition of his exceptional contributions to neutron science through the development of FullProf which is widely used for Rietveld analysis of powder diffraction data for crystallographic and magnetic studies, and his continued efforts to advance the software in close collaboration with its user community.
